With dedicated bilingual staff, we work diligently to help our participants lead successful and comfortable lives. AmeriCorps members will serve as Youth Development Specialist in which they serve as program staff and work directly with club members. Through implementations in some of the programs just mentioned, the goal is that our club members will improve in key academic areas such as Science, Math, and Reading. Our Workforce Development team envisions ending unemployment and poverty through their highly-effective programs.

Association House programs serve a vibrant, multi-cultural community. Our programs, known for their quality, are bilingual in English and Spanish. Organization summary
Our Community Health programs address chronic health issues and improve community health. We reach uninsured and underinsured individuals least likely to access care. We offer nutrition workshops, physical fitness activities, cooking demonstrations, health screenings, and more. Our staff is culturally-affirming and bilingual in English and Spanish. We serve a multi-cultural community by providing comprehensive, collaborative and effective programs in English and Spanish. We promote health and wellness and create opportunities for educational and economic advancement.

Our services focus on the whole person, providing trauma-informed, culturally affirming therapy that helps you reach your goals at any point in life. You’ll find information on how we can help, the services we offer, our therapists, and how to get started. Dulcinea is a structured living setting for adults with severe mental illness or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. We provide a safe and welcoming environment to foster confidence and independence in our participants.

Our Healthy Lifestyles Program (HLP) educates youths, their parents, and members of the greater West Side communities that we serve on health and nutrition. We make factual health and nutrition information accessible to encourage long-term, independent healthy decision making through health, nutrition and cooking classes, and physical fitness activities. We also host an annual Back 2 School Fair in August for hundreds of children and families. We are certified to teach evidence-based Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) trainings. Our Allies are diverse, equity-centered, innovative problem solvers, dedicated to mobilizing community assets to develop solutions to local challenges.

And perhaps of greatest importance, we will maintain dedicated efforts to culture change at Association House. With Michelle Obama as its founder, it has been 30 years since Public Allies Chicago launched a community-based asset model that changed how emerging civic leaders are developed and engage with Chicago communities. The Drop-in Center provides a safe and comfortable gathering place for adults with mental health symptoms who are transitioning from life in a facility to life in the community.

At that time, our participants were mostly central European - and in need of education, training, and social services to help them adapt to life in a new country. We provided services that the city and State did not, and offered programs to improve our community's access and opportunity for participation in Chicago. Changing over the years, our participant community is still diverse - for many decades now mostly Latinx and African American - and demonstrate critical economic, health, and educational needs. Our Behavioral Health programs offer an array of culturally competent and evidence-based behavioral healthcare, prevention, treatment, and educational programs delivered by a team of qualified professionals.
In partnership with nonprofit partners, we deliver our nationally recognized, values-driven, results-led apprenticeship to advance our mission to create a just and equitable society and the diverse leadership to sustain it. Our bilingual, culturally-affirming, trauma-informed case management programs support hundreds of individuals with mental health disorders in accessing resources and achieving independence and recovery. Our program's staff are certified mental health first aid trainers for youths and adults. Each year, our health trainings prepare nearly 1,000 attendees to identify and support mental health crises. Youth & Opportunity United (Y..O.U.) AmeriCorps members deliver high-quality afterschool and summer learning programs in 9 elementary and middle/junior high schools in Evanston and Skokie Illinois. AmeriCorps members are responsible for providing youth with tutoring and enrichment activities that promote their academic, social, and emotional skills.
We work in partnership with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Our goal is to ensure the safety, well-being, and healthy development of children. We help parents and families develop nurturing and safe relationships with their children. Our one-on-one case management teams partner with individual participants to determine both their immediate needs and long-term goals. Many of our participants have a predominant economic, mental health, or educational need and/or aspiration. Through our process, we find that fully 20% of our participant community actively utilizes services in multiple areas.
Our Behavioral Health programs help individuals tackle challenges, increase independence, and seize opportunity. Always culturally affirming, trauma-informed, and evidence-based, our programs are best-in-class. Whether you need mental health services, substance-use treatment, or a little extra support, our staff is here for you. We also offer empowering services for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Sinai Public Health AmeriCorps is an opportunity to make a real difference in healthcare and in the lives of people including your own. Corps members commit to full time or half time from September to June tackling issues related to health equity and health access. Members receive professional development training, health benefits and meaningful ways to make a difference in healthcare. The Food Depository’s Hunger Action Corps engages and cultivates community changemakers who want to gain experience while working to end hunger. Through a combination of service, formal training and personal development opportunities, Hunger Action Corps members make a difference in our community while gaining valuable skills that can transform their lives. We offer a wide variety of services for people with development disabilities.
